Survey Guidelines
This Assessment is designed to help White people who are passionate about a more just and sustainable world evaluate where they are along the spectrum of awakening and awareness when it comes to race and the work of racial justice and equity.
We share the full spectrum so that they can also see the path to greater personal growth and deeper impact. Our hope is that those who participate in the Assessment feel inspired enough by their results to continue to pursue the path to greater personal growth and learning as well as a deeper impact in the world.
There are a total of 9 Archetypes on the spectrum- they range from Hostile Adversary to ONE. Hostile Adversary representing someone who is both consciously and actively engaged in dehumanizing and polarizing beliefs, lexicon, and behaviors. ONE presents someone who sees the work of re-connecting to their humanity and the humanity of others as being integral to their life and their purpose.
The results of the assessment will show you into which Archetype you fall. You will be able to see the full spectrum of all 9 Archetypes as well.
We recommend that you review the Archetype before and after the one you are in as you may have characteristics of those as well or may show up in some parts of your life more in one and in other parts of your life more in another (e.g. how you show up at work vs with your family or friends). In addition, by looking at the next Archetype in the spectrum, you will be able to get an initial sense of what you may be able to do to move further along the re-humanization spectrum.

7. Beliefs About The World: Chose the ONE statement that best describes your current view on the state of our world:
We’re f’ed. It’s war.
By the time all of this is over, I won’t have anything left.
Things are getting crazier every day. I don’t know what to do.
I can’t believe what is going on right now. There has to be a way to stop this.
This country is so racist. I’m ashamed to be white right now.
There is so much work to do out there but we need to follow the lead of POC
As I look at all that is going on right now, I am cautiously optimistic that I can make a difference.
Things are only going to change if we all work together to dismantle these oppressive systems
The world is waking up and we finally have a chance to create something new.

8. Beliefs About These Times: Choose the ONE statement that most captures your thoughts and feelings in light of recent events (i.e. George Floyd, Briona Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, Amy Cooper ...)?:
*
Law-abiding citizens don’t have these problems.
There has to be more to these stories than just what we’re being told. The police have a tough job. These people aren’t angels.
Most cops are good. These are isolated incidents that are getting overblown and rioting isn't helping anything.
I never realized things were this bad. I am learning a lot.
Things have reached a tipping point for me. I need to do more.
I’ve been doing this work a long time and these incidents aren’t new, but more people seem to be waking up.
There is a lot of energy out there right now. Now how do we leverage all of this energy towards sustainable change?
I feel blessed to be in a place where the work of culture change is now in high demand, I’m so ready to be a part of that change.
Every single one of us needs to be standing up right now, we’ve all been impacted by this - this is about our humanity and our commitment to working towards a world where all of us can thrive.
